January 5th: Anubis destroys hometown Haarlem by playing at the Patronaat. This was the first round of the Rob Acda Awards, which we won, much to our surprise.
January 27th: Molfest - big in the home town of Alex' and Kevin's - lets Anubis open the evening. An unexpectedly large number of visitors turn up for a first band. Best show so far!
February 2nd: The Cave is bothered by Anubis for the second time. Anubis wasn't the biggest problem of the evening though... Turned out to be quite an angry and energetic gig.
February 4th: Weirdest gig ever! Anubis did two sets in café The Pubcrawler, playing in front of the entrance, with people walking right through us and our equipment when they wanted to get in. The second set featured our friends Dennistopia on additional guitar and Metal Martin on "celestial" backing vocals.
February 10th: Anubis plays Parkhof with Misantropicana (which we will always remember!) and Obsidian, whose drummer Melle was one of the most enthusiastic people out of the seven who were present. Rob and Kevin walk Dennis' wires out of his amp during solos three times.
February ??th: Recordings for the Finals CD of the Rob Acda Awards. Kevin can hardly stand up straight due to stomach fever. Sickness is Metal!
March 10th: Alex and Kevin visit the Kreator-show in Heerhugowaard. Kevin loses his voice while screaming along to one of the Kreator-songs.
March 11th: Third time in The Cave! Same problems as the last time, but this time we played with our friends of Dystopia (with Kevin guesting on 'Raining Blood'...SLAYER!!!) and Reckless Tide, a promising, kick-ass German Thrash band. Whoever thinks Germans have no sense of humor should meet these guys. The effect of Kreator on Kevin's voice can be heard quite obviously.
March 23rd: Rob Acda Awards finals. Horrible. Terrible stage sound with lots of bass, lots of vocals, little guitars and zero drums. Rob breaks his b-string during one of his first notes and has to play an 800 euro bass instead. Kevin kicks a harmless dustbin. Injuries of the latter are still visible. General disappointment.
May 19th: Now we know what all those Black Metal dudes feel about the north. We passed the first round of Rock De Engel with our best gig so far, debuting 'Retribution' live, leaving people impressed one way or another. Vla is Metal!
August 12th: Anubis re-releases 'These Ancient Halls' with bonus tracks from the Rob Acda Awards Finals-CD sessions. Why? Because we need your money, damnit!
September 8th: Anubis eats pie without Laurens, who is spotting forest fires in Greece. Another way to celebrate our second anniversary is visiting the Vicious Rumors/Agent Steel/After All show in Noordwijk. Dennis drives too fast through a 30km-zone and is photographed. Only to find out it wasn't one of the roadside cameras a few months later.
October 12th: New killerest gig ever! Anubis debuts 'Talons Of The Desert' at De Kade in Zaandam and is content with it. Great crowd too. According to their bassist, Laurens let out the smelliest shit on the Nanowar-tour.
December 15th: Bronze Rock. The finals of Rock De Engel didn't go as well as in the first round which made us end third in line, while Dystopia did better than in the first round to eventually win. We believe it was the extremely gay Christmas tree that is to blame.
December 20th: Alex leaves Anubis. Leaving the rest of the band shocked, but determined to go on. They have hardly ever agreed on something so much.
