March 14th 2009 - News projects, new bands, new opportunities

Dear friends of Metal,

Some news is now available concerning the guys of the former Anubis camp!

Most of all Rob Langendijk has just finished a project called 'Burned Within'. This project concerns some nasty events that happened in Robs life during the last year. Don't, however, expect piano ballads with an aching croon or a self pitying load of emo rock. The shape in which Rob chose to present the state his mind went through is the shape of technical Death Metal. He combined this with his love for Jazz Fusion, creating an atmosphere that average Death Metal bands do not dare to even think of. There are brutal Death Metal tracks, there are pure Fusion interludes...there's even Metal featuring his saxophone playing! And with the lyrics leaving blood, guts and gore for what they are, 'As You Burn Within Me' is really something different in deed!

Check out the songs in the flash player below or on the myspace page.

For more information, please go to http://www.myspace.com/burnedwithin.

Furthermore at this point Alex, Rob and Kevin are involved within a band called 'Chaos Asylum'. Laurens and Dennis are toghether in a band as well, but no definitive name has been has been made public yet.

When more news is available you will be the first to hear it!

Cheers!

August 18th 2008 - Anubis splits up...

Dear Anubieltjes and everyone else involved with Anubis,

Some of you might already have heard about it, some of you might not, but Anubis has decided to split up. Since Alex left we have been trying very hard to find a replacement, which was a very difficult process. Not being able to find a worthy replacement made us very demotivated and frustrated. The moral of several members started to drop. Eventually we decided it would be best for everyone if we were to go our own way.
Kevin will be spending time making music with (among others) Alex again on a more relaxed and less serious basis and will continue working on material for Crimson Assault, which is his solo-project. Laurens and Dennis are focussing on writing new material and starting a new band with Mavis bass-player Arjo and a yet to be found singer/guitarist (if you’d like to apply, let them know).

We would like to thank everyone for supporting Anubis and we hope to see you in the future!

We will keep this site online to place links to information about what we are doing when there is anything to report.

A big cheers and don’t forget to stay metal at all times!

Dennis, Rob, Laurens, Kevin

March 2th 2008 - Thanks for the great show! And there's one coming up!

To all of those who were there last friday: thanks a lot for showing up, thanks even more for the fantastic response, it was massive! As for myself, my head hurts like fuck, because the adrenalin didn't allow me to sleep much, but hey, it was worth it! And on the other hand, the smile that found its way to my face because of the gig still hasn't left. Through this way, we'd like to thank Martijn for putting up this great party known as Metallic Damnation. And for putting up such a great bill with so many cool people.

For those of you who can't get enough of us (and that's probably quite a few, as some of you were screaming for two more songs when we announced we were playing one more), there will be more this thursday, March 6th. Then, we will play at the Volta in Amsterdam to make up for the gig we played there a year and a half ago. Joining us that evening will be our good friends of Dystopia. That means Dennistopia will play twice but hey...he's young and vital!

Thanks to you all for everything and let's have fun again on thursday!

Cheers,

Kevin, on behalf of all the Anubis-members

December 31th 2007 - What a year it was!

Kevin made a very nice overview of what happened concerning Anubis the last year. What a year it was!
You can read it here

December 24th 2007 - ALEX LEAVES ANUBIS!!!

We didn't see this one coming either...

After over two years of loyal duty, Alex Mulder decided to leave Anubis. The decision is neither personally or musically driven, Alex just feels he can't fully commit to being in a band anymore. We wish Alex all the best in the future and will most definitely stay in touch.

However, this puts us as the four remaining members in a difficult position. The demo we were planning to record will be delayed until we have a new guitarist who can play the songs. And we have a few gigs coming up as well.

The gigs will be safe though. Our long time friend/fan/fast learner Dennis 'Dennistopia' Onsia from Dystopia will fill in for the Patronaat gig. We hope we will find a permanent replacement in time for the Metal aan de Zaan gig though. Only time will tell.

Which brings us to the point of replacing Alex. We hope to be auditioning guitarists soon. You think you have got what it takes to be in Anubis? In that case, that means you are at least as good as Alex, willing to rehearse once a week in Haarlem, a nice guy/girl and of course someone who loves Metal! Also, if you happen to know someone who might be the perfect fit for Anubis, pass this message on to that person and let him/her contact us as soon as possible!

We were hoping to bring this in a different way, with better news, but still: have a great, Metal Christmas!

Cheers,

Robbie, Kevin, Laurens and Dennis

December 16th 2007 - Bronze rock and new gigs!

Hey!

Anubis just took the Bronze Rock home for ending third at Rock De Engel. Not winnig was of course a big bummer, but it warms our hearts that our friends in Dystopia did win! Congratulations guys and girl! And thanks to everyone who came out and supported us!

Besides that, we can confirm two new gigs for you. The first one will be at the Patronaat. In the small hall, we will open for Van Katoen on January 18th. Doors will open at 19:00 and it should be a fun gig!

For those of you who haven't heard from the Metal aan de Zaan festival...that's not all that strange, because next year, the fest will be held for the first time and we will be there. It will be in the large hall of De Kade in Zaandam on February 29th and other bands will include The Lucifer Principle and the ever awesome Izegrim!

That's all for now, we'll let you know more as soon as we do too!

Horns up!

Anubis

November 22nd 2007 - Rock de Engel moved!

Hell o!

Rock de Engel, the second band contest final of the year Anubis takes part in, will be a week later than we reported last time. Instead of December 8th, the gig will be at December 15th. Anubis will be the first band playing, so make sure you're there at 4 PM sharp! And a great audience makes us better, so we might just win because of you! Other bands include our friends of Dystopia, our friends of the Queens Of Bad Music, our friends of Dyson...so you'll get the hint: it'll be a friendly day!

Due to Kevin's internship, we're forced to take things a little easier on weekdays in the coming period. That means shows that aren't on friday or saturday are hardly an option the next three months, but if you have a nice offer, you can of course contact us. And this doesn't mean we don't have any things up our sleeves...hopefully we can tell you more about this next time!

And to close off the whole thing in style: we welcome our 666th friend on our MySpace today! Actually, we shouldn't collect any more friends now, but you know what? The more, the merrier! ;)

See you on December 15th!

Anubis

October 6th 2007 - Rescheduling hell!

Well...hello!

There is some news again. This time the subject is rescheduling gigs. A thing we officially hate from now on. Here's the deal.

The first thing was that we had a gig scheduled at the Waerdse Tempel on October 19th. That gig was supposed to be rescheduled to October 20th due to circumstances beyond everyone's control, but not everyone was available that day. The gig is being rescheduled to another date, making the lineup of Kakihara, Plough and ourselves unchanged, so as soon as we know when the definitive date of the gig is, you will be the next to know!

Then there's December. We were supposed to have a gig at Magnifiosi in Lisse on the 7th, but that gig got rescheduled to a day later. A day later, there's the finals of Rock De Engel, which is obviously very important for us as we did our best and most fun gig to date there last time. As soon as we have more details on these, once again, you'll be the next to know!

Next Friday, October 12th, the gig at De Kade in Zaandam is still on. So if you really want to see us, please come out there and enjoy an evening with Nanowar, Calibern and Anubis. By the way, don't you owe us a drink because of our second Anuversary? ;)

Hopefully we'll see you next Friday. In the meantime, let the Metal flow!

Anubis

September 8th 2007 - Happy Anuversary!

Hello there crazy dudes and dudettes!

Today, it's been exactly two years since we first played together. A reason to party? Oh yes! And if you need more reasons: there are two more confirmed shows. One of them (October 12th) is in De Kade in Zaandam and the other (October 19th) is in the Waerdse Tempel in Heerhugowaard. Both shows are in the small halls, but they'll be destroyed anyway.

So come on down to those shows and celebrate our Anuversary with us! Kevin likes Cassis and the others Hertog Jan beer.

We're off now, we're going to eat pie, have a drink and enjoy an Agent Steel and Vicious Rumors show. Except for Laurens, who is spotting forest fires in Greece. Cheers to you people!

Thrash out and rage on!

The Anubian Birthday Boys

June 16th 2007 - New songs, new release, same Anubis

Hello Anubieltjes and other curious bastards!

As we announced in our latest update, there was some more news coming up and here it is: Anubis will re-release their 'These Ancient Halls'-demo with three extra songs from the Rob Acda Award Finals CD session.

For those of you who already own the Finals CD, you might want to check out the demo nevertheless, because there will be a much better version of 'Act On Repulse' on there and 'The Concept Of God' and 'Terrorfever' will have a slightly altered mix. Though slightly should really have an accent there.

'Act On Repulse' and 'The Concept Of God' can already be heard on the media section of our home page and on our MySpace. An edit of 'Terrorfever' will follow soon. Although there will probably be vastly superior recordings of the songs in the future, it's a nice insight into what Anubis is up to.

In addition, the MySpace is fully functional again. Kevin forgot to change the adress of the background after our server change, which resulted in a hardly readable site. That problem is fixed now.

So there you go...check it out and like it! ;) Cheers, Rob, Kevin,

Alex, Dennis and Laurens - Anubis

May 30th 2007 - The finals indeed

A good day to all who Thrash,

Anubis made it to the finals of the Rock de Engel contest by playing a kick ass gig at the event. The jury seemed to be impressed by what we did. Our new track 'Retribution' went down really well too. In fact, the audience was one of the best we ever had to face. Thanks to everyone out there for making it such a killer gig!

Additional thanks go out to Judith, for suggesting us as a band to play there, Marcel, for organizing the whole thing so well, and the guitarist of Ammag Odimrof (I'm sorry...I forgot your name!), for lending us his top, without which we couldn't have played.

Other news...the new edit of the track 'Act On Repulse', from the Rob Acda Awards finals CD sessions, will have its first airing at the Underground Projects Radio Show on the 3rd of June between 10pm and 1am EST (between 4am and 7am on the 4th of June CET). Apart from having the tracks played, there will also be a little interview with Kevin, so all of you people who are interested, check it out.

More news is on the way. Until then...keep your Metal Thrashing mad!

Cheers,

Rob, Kevin, Alex, Dennis, Laurens - Anubis

May 10th 2007 - Anubis goes up north!

Once again, Anubis is taking part in a band contest! This time it's Rock de Engel in Den Helder, way up north in our home province. The whole package starts out at 4 PM and Anubis will go on stage directly after the dinner break, which means around 8 PM. So make sure you're there! But the other bands, including some of the region's finest stuff, are worth checking out as well, so please come out and hang with us!

March 5th 2007 - Amsterdam will be thrashed

It seems like Anubis can't ever be thrown out of The Cave! This time, we're opening up for the killer German band Reckless Tide from Hannover. It's really cool that they asked us to be a part of this and we can't wait for the show. Our good friends of Dystopia will open the evening.
Come on down to The Cave this sunday and enjoy three cool bands!

Anubis

January 18th 2007 - Gigs, gigs, gigs...

Hey there!

As the regular visitors of our homepage and MySpace might have noticed, a few dates have been added to our gig list. We hope you can make it out to one of the following shows:

January 27th - JC Kompleks, Heerhugowaard - Molfest Metal
Anubis will be opening Molfest Metal in Alex' and Kevin's home town of Heerhugowaard. So if you want to see us, be there at 20:30 sharp (or in the half hour preceding that) and we will kick your ass. Other bands that evening will be Bloid, Kyu and the great Non-Divine. Should be fun!

February 2nd - The Cave, Amsterdam
Last year, we played The Cave on 6/6/6 and had a lot of fun there! Last year, we were the first opening band and this year, we are headlining. That means we will play a full set, which is probably about an hour in our case. It would be fun if those who joined us last year will be there again. Take your friends and neighbors with you! Other bands that evening will be Audacious and Blind Trash.

February 4th - The Pubcrawler, Haarlem
Anubis can be located at this rock café almost every thursday and on February 4th, a sunday, we also play there. Once again, we're playing a full set and it's fun to see us in our natural habitat as well. Our sound guy Bas will probably have his baptism of fire at this gig. If we sound good...it's his fault!

March 23rd - Patronaat, Haarlem - Rob Acda Awards Final Round
For us as a Haarlem-based band, a dream come true. The large hall of the Patronaat is one of Holland's finest concert halls and Rob, Alex and Kevin were determined to play there when they visited the Exodus show in November. None of the three expected it would actually happen so soon. Any person attending will be well appreciated, as this is the final round of the Rob Acda Awards and we heard the audience has a little influence too. We hope to see you there! There will be five other bands playing that evening, of which three are yet to be announced.

That's all for now (as if that wasn't enough...). Do you want to come out to one of the gigs? Why wouldn't you?

See you there!

Anubis

January 6th 2007 - ANUBIS FUCKING WON!!!

Yes people, you read it correctly! Anubis won!!! Won what? Won this round of the Rob Acda Awards! That means we're playing the LARGE hall of the Patronaat on the 23rd of March! Thanks to ALL the people that came out to see us! We had a blast and apparently, you did too, 'cause you looked amused!

This time, Kevin kept his promise and wrote a show report right away. The euphoria is probably obvious. You can read the report on our MySpace.

Words are unnecessary at the moment. Just let the Metal flow.

All the best and all the Thrash,

Rob, Kevin, Alex, Dennis and Laurens - Anubis

January 4th 2007 - Anubis destroys Molfest!

We are proud to announce that Anubis will make an appearance on this year's edition of Molfest Metal! This is especially to Alex' and Kevin's delight, as Molfest is a pretty big thing in their hometown of Heerhugowaard. The other bands of that evening are Bloid, Kyu and Non-Divine, the latter of which Kevin is a big fan of. This should be an interesting evening for everyone of you. So come out and have a Thrash Metal party with us! Please check out www.molfest.com for additional infos.

December 31th 2006 - Happy new show report!

Hello friends, fans and - if you're not one of those - fuckers!

Through this way, all the members of Anubis would like to wish you all the best for the year of 2007!!! We can't promise you anything, but we CAN promise that we will do anything to get you a lot of new things in the new year; new recordings, new songs and hopefully loads and loads of new shows. The latter is at least staring out with a show in Haarlem's pride the Patronaat this next friday, January 5th.

In addition, Kevin has finally gotten off of his lazy ass to write a report on our most recent gig in the Daisy Bell. Which, by the way, kicked ass! Go and read it now!

We hope to kick as much ass as then, or preferably even more, this friday in Haarlem. So all of you people...please do come out to the Patronaat and have a drink, a Metal and a lot of fun with us!

All the best and all the Thrash,

Rob, Kevin, Alex, Dennis and Laurens
ANUBIS

August 31th 2006 - Gigs coming up!

Dear friends, fellow-headbangers and other scum of society,

It's been some time since our last gig, but it seems like we got the ball a-rolling this time. We are proud to say that we've finally got some live shows coming up again!

The first live show that has been confirmed is one in our nation's capital Amsterdam, a town that was so kind to us last time. We hope that some of the people who were there last time can join us in our Thrash Metal Party again. This time, the venue is called Volta. For more information on how to get there and such, please visit their homepage. We'd like to thank our friends in Misty Mourning again, for letting us be a part of this, just like at our last show in Amsterdam.

Several other shows are near confirmation, so please stay tuned for more shows! And don't forget to pick up a copy of 'These Ancient Halls'!

THRAAAAAASH!!!!

Anubis

August 13th 2006 - Demo for sale!

Hello friends of Anubis! And friends of Metal in general!

And we thought it was never going to happen...but it's finally there: 'These Ancient Halls', the debut demo of the Dutch Thrash combo known as Anubis!

You read it correctly, the demo is finally for sale through our web site! It's quite simple actually, go to our homepage (or if you're reading this from our homepage...hi!) and go to the "Disco" section (or click on the miniature of the demo cover in the top right corner, it'll take you to the same page) and make your selection!

As for now, the payment possibilities are limited. Internationally, you can pay with PayPal and if you're in Holland, you can pay by a bank transfer. As for now, those were the easiest possibilities for us, hopefully this works for you too!

We hope this helps...and for those about to order the demo: we salute you!

Thrash Till Death!!!

Anubis

July 16th 2006 - Act On Repulse video on-line!

Hello there people!

It's taken some time, but you can now see how Anubis delivers the goods live! In the media section and on our MySpace profile, you can watch a live video of our brand new song 'Act On Repulse' as performed in Nieuw-Vennep on May 21st of this year. Remember, this was our worst show so far, so if you like it...it's probably going to get even better!

Another update that will soon come will be about our demo 'These Ancient Halls'. The sales section will soon be up on our homepage and of course we will keep you posted on that!

That's all for now. We hope you will enjoy the video! Please post your opinions!

Thrash on!

May 3th 2006 - Anubis comes alive again!

Anubis comes alive once again! This time, it's our nation's capital that's going to be destroyed. This last minute show has just been settled several minutes prior to posting this. The set will probably be pretty much equal to the one in Nieuw-Vennep, but we will be better this time. So be there or be damned!

May 16th 2006 - Anubis comes alive!!

Hello people!

First of all: thanks to all the people that came out to Hoofddorp last sunday to check us out. If any among you liked us...thanks even more! We had a good time in Hoofddorp and even though we had a shit sound, we did the trick quite well!

But the next Anubis gig is already awaiting! This sunday, Anubis will guest at a jam session in Grand Café Bull's Inn. We will be the guest band and start out immediately when the jam session starts. So be there before 4 PM, 'cause that's when we will start playing! And this time, we probably have a proper sound check and a decent set, containing all the songs we have done so far. So if you like our stuff, you will probably be rewarded! Entrance is free of charge.

For information on how to get to the Bull's Inn, please check out their homepage and if you're not Dutch...you can still ask us how to get there. Of course, we hope to see you there!

Thrash on!

April 29th 2006 - Gigs coming up!

Hey there friends and fellow headbangers!

A lot of people have asked us: "Will you guys be able to play the songs just as good as on the demo on stage?" We don't know either, but you can witness it yourself, as the first two live shows of Anubis are coming up!

The first one will be at a talent contest at theater De Meerse in Hoofddorp on May 14th. The second will be at a jam session at Grand Café Bull's Inn in Nieuw-Vennep on May 21st. Probably needless to say, both venues are in Holland.

So if you live around, or if you can get a cheap plane ticket, please come on out to (one of) those shows. We can use all the support you can give us. Remember what Paul Baloff said: "Without you guys, we'd just be heavy, without anyone to watch!"

See you there, hopefully!

April 23th 2006 - Guestbook on-line, demo coming out soon!

We are currently looking for the best way to reproduce our demo. It should be available through this website very soon! The title of the demo will be 'These Ancient Halls'. You can now view the cover artwork in the 'Disco' section.
You can now leave us a message in our brand new guestbook! It can also be found in the 'Contact' section.
Anubis would also like to thank everyone for the positive reactions on the Anubis MySpace!

March 8th 2006 - Demo samples and pictures on-line!

You can now listen to samples of the demo and view pictures of the demo sessions in the 'Media' section.

February 26th 2006 - The demo is recorded!

The recording of the demo went very smooth and samples will be up soon! Pictures and video made during the recording process will also be added.

February 23th 2006 - only two days left

Saturday the 25th Anubis will enter the Steelworks studio to record their first demo which is hopefully going to be the beginning of a long story! :-P
Two songs will be recorded: Anubian Melodies and Contempt Is Our Guide
Right now Laurens, Kevin and Rob are recovering from illness.

February 23th 2006 - Website on-line!

The Anubis website is on-line! Keep checking this website often as it will be updated frequently!
